OSHA Partnership

In 2005, the Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association (AECA) entered into a Strategic Partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).  Other members of this Partnership are our Electrical Apprenticeship Training Committee, the Georgia Tech Research Institute and IBEW Local 613.  The purpose of the Partnership is to prevent the major four hazards (falls, electrical, caught in/between and struck-by hazards) that account for the majority of fatalities and injuries in the construction industry.  The Partnership focuses on improving safety and health performance and strives to eliminate electrical hazards in the targeted area.  The specific goals of the Agreement include decreasing the injury/illness rates of the Partnership; establishing an industry standard checklist for use during work on energized circuits; increasing the implementation of comprehensive safety programs; decreasing worker's compensation costs for participants; and increasing the level of safety training and its availability for workers.
